Darrell Koenen
Awards/Honors:
Darrell Koenen was head coach for 12 years at Aplington and then Aplington-Parkersburg for 19. During those years, he compiled a 693-231-30 record. Darrell led Aplington-Parkersburg to the state tournament 6 times. In 2005, he won the Class 1A State Championship. He also has two runner-up finishes in 2000 and 2004. Darrell was voted Class 1A State Coach of the Year in 2005. He coached the Senior All Star Match in 1999. Darrell was also awarded Conference Coach of the Year nine times. During his years as a coach, Darrell was a member of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Volleyball Advisory Committee. He also served on various IGCA volleyball committees; the Senior All Star Selection Committee, the All-State Committee, the Hall of Fame Committee, and the All District Selection Committee. Darrell and his wife Becky live in Aplington. They have two sons, Greg and Tom. Darrell retired from coaching in 2012, but just retired from teaching last school year.

Jeanne Spieler
Awards/Honors:
Jeanne Spieler started the volleyball program at Carroll Kuemper High School in 1971 when she wrote a letter to the Girls’ Union to enter the state meet. During her 36 years of coaching Jeanne compiled a 683-329-97 record. Jeanne led Carroll Kuemper Catholic to the State tournament 4 times: 1978, 1979, 1988, and 2008. She reached the semi-final in 1978. Jeanne received the Monsignor. Joseph Tolan Ward in 1989 and 2001. She also received the Catholic Youth Association Award in 1988, 89, 1990, and 2001. In 2008, the IGHSAU awarded Jeanne with a Letter of Achievement. Jeanne is an integral part of the Senior All-Star Weekend hosted in Carroll each year. In 1984, she volunteered to host the All-Star game. With her help, the All-Star Game has now turned into the All-Star Weekend with 32 of the top seniors playing four matches on the weekend following the state tournament. Jeanne and her husband, Jerry, live in Carroll. They have three children, Gail, Kelly, and Paul, along with 8 grandchildren. Jeanne is retired from teaching and coaching.

Randy Krejci
Awards/Honors:
Randy has been officiating in Iowa since 1976. In his 38 year career, Randy has worked 55 matches in 19 years at the state tournament. He has worked 10 state finals, beginning in 1994 and most recently in 2009. Randy also coached at Cedar Rapids Kennedy from 1980-87, as the Head Sophomore and Assistant Varsity coach. Over the course of his officiating career, Randy was a volleyball and basketball rules presenter for the IGHSAU. He has also been a member of the Cedar Rapids Athletic Officials Association. During his membership, Randy held all offices. In 1996, Randy was the Iowa Volleyball Official of the year. Randy and his wife Suzanne, live in Cedar Rapids with their two daughters, Liz and Hannah. Randy is retired from his role as an administrator for the Cedar Rapids School district, but is still actively officiating.
